It is very impressive but can be disappointing to photograph. If you are there on the right day, when the sky is bright blue with fluffy white clouds even an American tourist could get a superb picture. When I was there, it was a hazy sky, the fountains were dry and there were tourists and litter everywhere. What is just as impressive as the great building itself, is the detail of the inlaid stonework. I kick myself for not having taken plenty of serious shots of that :-(


Here is an example of what I'm on about.

Those white marble walls are covered with inlaid semi-precious stones in the form of leaves and flowers. The craftsmanship is unbelievable.
